partly-cloudy-day-icon   Today will be sunny with some clouds, with a high of 75.

To masticate today:

  • Jack the Ripper: On Friday, DPS sent out a public safety alert regarding two crimes: one, the theft of a watch in Burleith, and the other, a knife attack on a Georgetown alumnus. The suspect pulled a knife on the passenger after a drive back from the Eighteenth Street Lounge. The suspect is a light-skinned black male at around 6 ft. Vox will continue to follow the story as it develops.

What to look out for:

  • The daily slow: Georgetown residents are advised that as per the federal holiday, trash collection and street sweeping will be suspended for the day. Parking regulations also will not be enforced, including expired meters, residential parking, and rush hour lane restrictions.
  • Platform 7 and a half billion: The year-old redevelopment project for Union Station revealed a few new developments this week. The $7.5 billion budget will be spent on widening platforms and installing elevators and escalators down to platform levels, but will leave the original architecture intact. The plan will take 15 to 20 years to implement each of its three phases.
